First time we'd been to a Giggling Squid, and I'd picked it due to travelling with a vegan colleague. They cater really well to vegans, which is a refreshing change. Everything was extremely tasty, well presented and decent portions. The vegan tofu and mushroom dish was an absolute standout, even for this meat eater!! The staff were lovely and the interior is BEAUTIFUL too. I wish we'd been in one of the little flowery booths. They're adorable.

The food tasted amazingly and we're well served. Staff seemed responsive, happy, and attentive. The decoration of restaurant are very lovely with its own style.
People have told me before that the Giggling Squid is worth a visit. Never actually managed to get a booking before though so this was my first time. Booked online well in advance this time. Forward thinking. From the outside it’s a nice-looking place, bright and inviting and toward the better end of St Davids Shopping Centre. Lots of pale blue and flowers. Excellent menu - almost an overabundance of choice really as there were so many things I wanted to try. Started off in the end with the crispy squid - this was fantastic, with lots of chilli spice and a tasty seafood dip. Opted for the chicken massaman as a main, this was a decent portion with good heat, served in some sort of old-fashioned pan. Overall an excellent meal. Egg-fried rice on the side, as it should be. Also some tasty roti breads, for the dipping. For dessert, a tres leches cake was on offer. I haven’t had that since I was last in Bahrain. Alas, it was not to be on this occasion as I was full. Tres leches though. Yum. The beer was Chang, a big bottle of Chang. I had two. They had other beers as well, but I stand by my choice. Price for the meal was reasonable and the service was excellent throughout, I can say for certain I will be going to one of these again. I may even try going to one of the semi-local ones near to me if I can’t wait until I am next in Cardiff. Well done. Two paws up, a recipe for success.
Tried this place soon after it opened in July 2023 and it was quite poor, which we put down to probable teething issues. Staff a bit average and quite a few things on the menu which were not available. This experience however was pretty much 10/10. Fantastic service from Lela who was smiley & attentive throughout. And the food in terms of portions and taste were stunning. Absolutely nothing to fault. We had the sharing street food platter for starters. Wife had a fish dish (squid) for her mains and me, the salmon paneang. Dessert also lovely with my wife getting a surprise complimentary chocolate gateau for her birthday (which I had mentioned on booking the table). Also added service charge was 7.5% which was more than reasonable for the food quality,service and ambience. Would choose to eat here again.
Had the lunch menu here which we really loved and felt like it was good value for money with a choice of four different small dishes. The iced tea is also amazing! Service was a tad slow but overall a good experience.
I went last evening to have a dinner with my lovely clients who are like lovely firends and we all had an amazing time together! The staff was lovely and friendly and very helpful and the food was yummy and healthy. The drinks were THE BEST...!!!! Even without alcohol which I loved! We are deffiniely comig back! Thanks for helping us to have an amazing time together!
I’ve visited this restaurant a couple of times now and have been blown away each visit. The cocktails are delicious, with a large selection available and the staff are highly attentive and kind. As for the food, it’s all incredible and beautifully presented, I’m salivating just writing this review. An extra special thank you to Gareth who made my recent visit super special, my friends and I really appreciated your high level of service. Will definitely be returning asap!
